How It Works

Three steps, not three weeks.

01

Tell Co.llab what people need to learn

Upload your source material — policies, procedures, training notes, SME docs. Answer a few questions about your learners and what they need to do differently.

02

Co.llab builds the course

Structure, scenarios, interactions, knowledge checks. Built from your material, in your language, at the right level for your learners.

03

Export SCORM. Ready for your LMS.

SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 packages. Works with Moodle, TalentLMS, Totara, anything that takes SCORM. No middleware, no extra tools, no monthly fee.

From the Beta

The course was generated with the tone that I requested, and for the audience that I requested. With enough interactions to feel you are learning.

Frequently asked

Questions we hear a lot.

  • What makes Co.llab different from Articulate, iSpring, or Captivate?

Those are build tools — you do the instructional design, they give you a canvas. Co.llab is a design tool. The AI handles the structure, branching scenarios, interaction selection, and knowledge checks. You bring the subject-matter expertise; Co.llab builds the course around it. Also: one-time purchase (not a subscription), runs on your machine (not in a browser), and supports SCORM import so you can rebuild existing courses rather than starting from scratch.
  • Is this a subscription?

No. Co.llab is a one-time purchase. You buy it once; you own it forever. No monthly fees, no annual renewal, no losing access if you stop paying. This is a deliberate differentiator from the rest of the market — and it's not going to change.
  • How much will AI usage cost me?

A full 5-module course typically costs under £1 in AI usage, billed directly by Anthropic through the Claude API key you provide. Unlike SaaS tools that charge you monthly whether you use them or not, with Co.llab you pay only for what you actually generate. If you build one course a month, you're probably spending pennies on AI.
  • What does "bring your own API key" mean — and is it hard to set up?

It means Co.llab uses your own Anthropic account to do the AI work, instead of us reselling AI to you at a markup. Setup takes about 2 minutes: sign up at anthropic.com, create an API key from your account settings, paste it into Co.llab once. That's it — no code, no technical knowledge required. We include a step-by-step video in the app showing exactly what to do.
  • Why only Claude? What about GPT or Gemini?

Co.llab is built specifically on Anthropic's Claude models. Claude's long-context reasoning and instruction-following make it consistently stronger at instructional design work than the alternatives we've tested — courses come out more structured, more coherent, and require less rework. Committing to one model also lets us tune prompts and agent behaviour more tightly than a multi-provider tool could. Support for OpenAI or Google models may come in a future update, but it's not on the launch roadmap.
  • Is my company's proprietary data safe?

Yes. Co.llab runs entirely on your own machine. SME docs, policies, and course material go directly from your computer to Anthropic via your Claude API key — nothing passes through our servers. We never see, store, or process your content. For compliance-heavy industries (healthcare, legal, financial services), this is often the only AI authoring option that passes IT review.
  • What happens when AI models get updated?

Your existing courses are completely unaffected — once a course is built and exported as SCORM, it's a standalone file that doesn't call AI at runtime. Model updates only affect courses you're building new. When you do build new courses, Co.llab uses whichever Claude model your API key has access to at that time, so you control the upgrade pace via your Anthropic account settings.
  • What happens if The Human Collab shuts down?

You don't lose access to the software you paid for. Because Co.llab runs on your machine with your own API key, it doesn't require our servers to function. We've made an explicit offline-mode commitment: if The Human Collab ever ceased operation, we'll push a final update ensuring purchased licences keep working indefinitely. No promise of support or future updates — just that the software you bought stays yours.
  • Do I own the courses I create?

100%. Any course, scenario, assessment, or output you build with Co.llab belongs entirely to you. We claim no rights over your content, no revenue share, no licensing restrictions. Sell them, modify them, give them away, bundle them into larger products — whatever you need to do. Your content is yours.
  • Can I use Co.llab on more than one computer?

Yes — up to two personally-owned machines. If you have a work laptop and a home desktop, install it on both. The licence is non-transferable (you can't sell it to someone else), but within your own setup, two installs is standard.
  • When does Co.llab launch and how much will it cost?

Co.llab is currently in closed beta with 80+ testers. We're not committing to a public launch date — we'll open when the product is ready. Pricing is still being worked out based on beta feedback; we'll announce it when Co.llab opens. Join the waitlist and we'll tell you the moment it's available.
